During the 2020-21 financial year New Zealand’s Investor Visa Programs (categories I and II, NZ$10m and NZ$3m) raised NZ$259m in total. Pandemic caused lockdown closed boarders made Investment Immigration almost impossible. In 2022, however, the prospects of Kiwi investment migration are looking up. Already by the first three quarters of the financial year, approvals for were up by 71% for Investor Visa category II and remarkable 125% for Category I. Mind that financial year in New Zealand runs from July 1st to June 30th. So, for now it seems that New Zealand is poised to raise NZ$720m before the financial year ends, on June 30th. That would represent the best result since prior to the pandemic and also an improvement on 2019-20, which experienced pandemic disruptions only in its last quarter.
Although the Kiwi program has always been among the worlds most exclusive (rejection rates at about 35%), there are investors who keep their interest. But some investors are rejected more then the other. For example, South Africans comparing to those ones from Indonesia. New Zealand’s Investor Visa Programs are most popular among the Chinese investors.
