As of right now, those seeking higher education must go overseas to get a degree. However, there are three lower-level tertiary schools on the island, including the Dominica State College, the School of Nursing and the Dominica Teachers Training College.

As mentioned, Dominica experienced a lot of damage from tropical storms, with the real estate market taking the biggest hit. However, real estate is still very attractive for foreigners and the market demand has remained steady.

Overall, typical home prices range between $200,000 to $600,000 USD, with North Americans being the largest portion of investors in the country.

Changing your name is prohibited. New rules for investment citizens

At the end of 2023, Dominica implemented new rules for its CIP to address inconsistencies with EU and UK requirements. Let us remind you that the UK has deprived Dominican citizens of the right to visa-free entry back in 2023. Thus, perhaps Dominica’s decisions according CIP rules will return visa-free entry to the United Kingdom to Dominican citizens in the foreseeable future.

Here are some key changes. Investors who have acquired Dominican citizenship can no longer change their name. Moreover, it is specifically mentioned that persons who change their name within five years of obtaining Dominica Investment Citizenship will have it revoked. Additionally, individuals who have been denied a US, UK or EU visa will not be able to apply for Dominican citizenship. For more details contact APEX >>

Dominica Citizens Eligible for Canada Simplified Visa (CAD+)

On June 7, 2023, it became known that citizens of Dominica can now use the simplified visa regime (CAD +) to visit Canada. This was officially announced by the Canada’s High Commissioner, Lilian Chatterjee

Please note that such concessions apply only to those citizens of Dominica who have visited Canada at least once in the last 10 years (on legal grounds) or have a valid non-immigrant visa to the United States at the time of application. In addition to citizens of Dominica, citizens of Grenada received this privilege. So, subject to the above conditions, citizens of Dominica, including holders of investment passports, can apply for a Canadian visa online. The remaining categories of citizens are still required to receive regular visas. Mind that only passengers arriving in Canada by air can use the eTA eVisa. This rule does not apply to other types of transport (border points).

The simplification of the visa regime between Canada and the Caribbean countries means a new stage in relations between the countries.
